    Vacancy student assistant Genetics ( ~8h/week)

    The Translational Genomics of Neurodevelopmental Disorders group at the Radboudumc’s Human Genetics department has a vacancy for a highly reliable, motivated student assistant with life science/biology/medical research affinity, for ca. 8h per week, starting March 1st 2024.

    The laboratory studies genetic forms of Neurodevelopmental Disorders using the fruit fly Drosophila as a model.

    Main tasks of the student assistant include:

    • Animal maintenance (fly strains need to be regularly transferred into novel food vials)
    • Monitoring lab supplies and making orders
    • Monitoring fly food requirements of the group, communicate with media kitchen and transport fly food to the lab
    • Interact with other support personnel

    Although the work does not require prior knowledge or specific skills, it is of crucial importance for the research of the entire fly team. We therefore look for an individual with:

    • excellent organization skills
    • highest level of reliability
    • motivated
    • very good interpersonal and communication skills
    • intention to perform this job for at least a year, preferably longer. Students at the beginning of their Masters may therefore be most suitable for this position.

    Employment:

    Contract as laboratory/student assistant at the Radboudumc’s Human Genetics department, aiming at 8h per week. Amount of hours can be written down flexibly according to the time spent. Work hours: Coordination with the current student assistant will be required during the training period. Once independent, the exact times are flexible and self-determined. We therefore expect this job to be compatible with most student schedules.
